Join a community
You need a Sblurp account and the community's address or an invite link.
Steps
- Open app.sblurp.chat and sign in.
- Click Add a community in the rail on the left.
- Enter the community's address, such as
nightowls.chat, or paste an invite link. - Read the community's name, member count and description.
- If the community is invite only, enter the invite code. An invite link fills it in for you.
- Answer the community's questions, if it asks any.
- Choose what to share: display name, avatar and bio. The community gets only what is switched on.
- Click Join.
The community appears as an icon in the rail. Click it to switch to it.
Invite links
An invite link looks like https://chat.example.com/invite/ABCDE23456. Opened in a browser, it goes straight to the join screen with the code filled in. Codes are 10 characters and not case-sensitive.
A code can stop working. It may have expired, been used up or been revoked. Ask an admin for a new one.
When a community turns you away
- "That invite code doesn't work." The code expired, was used up or was revoked.
- A message from the community's bot. A plugin checks who may join. It may want a confirmed email address, an age, or a certain answer. The message says what to do.
- You were banned. A banned account cannot join again until a moderator lifts the ban.
Open and invite-only communities
An open community lets anyone with a Sblurp account join. An invite-only one asks for a code. People who are already members never need a code. Someone who left or was kicked needs a new one.
